Sadie is a 7 year old, 35 lb. spayed female in Santa Monica, CA

She needs A LOT of exercise. I give her 2 walks each day and ball throwing. It's not enough. I am 75, very active, but I can't give her more. This is why I want to rehome her.

She is a working dog and her only work is guarding me. She loves playing with other dogs if I am not present. If I'm there, she guards me. She should be the only dog unless you have a ranch or land to let her run.

I rescued her 1-1/2 years ago and the shelter had picked her up on the street. So probably a fenced yard. She does not tolerate new people in MY house unless they are sitting down...no moving around. It's just the 2 of us and she has bonded with me. Protective. Guests enter, sit and then we re-enter until she knows them.

Sadie nipped my adult neighbor on the calf and broke the skin while walking down the street. She is using antibiotic ointment to treat the wound. She was on leash when it happened. My neighbor was relating a story that she was going through a bed bug infestation. I reacted emotionally, emoting concern and empathy. I think Sadie caught my energy and she nipped her an the calf.

Visiting others homes, she is very loving. Always loving (except for last nipping incident) to strangers when leash walking in the neighborhood or visits to the vet and friends houses. She does become aggressive to a few dogs on our walks. I successfully use the Re Direct method when those dogs approach. She looks at me and we walk the other way.

She is house broken, obedience trained with me and without me. She loves to ride in the car. Always wants to be with me. This is very hard for me. She is just too active for me. She is such a smart, loving dog. She is chipped and up on all her shots. I would need to meet you and introduce Sadie to you. I can drive to you if you are not terribly far away. You need to have the time and energy to run her or have the space to let her run. I don't want a fee. I just want the right home for her.
