Ruco is an 8 year old, 44 lb. neutered male in Amman, Jordan

Meet Ruco: A Loyal Companion Seeking the Right Match

Ruco is an 8-year-old Australian Cattle Dog with a gentle heart, a sharp mind, and an endless love for playing fetch. He has experienced a challenging past and is now looking for a stable, understanding home with someone who truly appreciates the complexities and strengths of herding breeds.

Personality & Temperament:
Ruco is deeply loyal and forms strong bonds with his person. He is highly food-driven, eager to learn, and full of enthusiasm for life. While he may appear tough at first glance, Ruco is a sensitive dog who thrives on connection and reassurance. He shows affection through enthusiastic kisses, nudges, and soulful eye contact. When playtime winds down, he enjoys relaxing beside his person or settling into a quiet space with a favorite chew or toy.

Ruco demonstrates typical heeler nipping. However on occasions he has bitten and broken skin on legs/ankles. He does not like when people have shouted or acted aggressively towards me. He does not like when people are picked up in front of him, ie. a air hug. He does not bite at any other times. He does not like majority of other dogs, but it's usually just when I am around. His behavior changes when I am not there as in it improves and is less protective.

What Ruco Loves:
- Fetch above all else—daily ball time is a must
- Treats and food-based rewards
- Staying close to his trusted human
- Walks and physical activity
- Chewing approved items such as bones and toys
- Structure, routine, and a predictable environment

Daily Life with Ruco:
Ruco’s excitement can occasionally override his impulse control, and at times he may struggle to focus. He is crate trained but prefers sleeping near his person. He is fully house-trained and generally respectful of furniture, though he is known to target small, tempting items such as socks, tissues, underwear, gum packs, and playing cards. His home will need to be managed to set him up for success.

He is typically quiet but will alert when someone knocks, the doorbell rings, or even when the microwave beeps. He may whine when anxious and is naturally protective of his home and person. He does not like when people are aggressive or leave and enter the room/house.

Important Considerations:
Ruco’s past experiences with people and dogs have left him cautious and reactive in certain situations. His fear and anxiety can surface as reactivity, and he requires more patience, management, and understanding than an average dog.

Not a Good Fit For:
- Homes with cats, small animals, or other dogs
- Households with children
- Busy or high-traffic homes with frequent visitors
- Apartments or close neighbors sensitive to noise
- First-time dog owners or those unfamiliar with herding breeds

Ideal Home:
Ruco will do best with an adopter who:
- Has prior experience with herding breeds, especially Australian Cattle Dogs
- Understands ACD behaviors and is prepared for a dog who needs extra guidance
- Is home often or works from home (Ruco has separation anxiety)
- Has a securely fenced yard
- Lives in a quiet setting with minimal nearby neighbors
- Is calm, confident, and consistent
- Can set and maintain fair boundaries
- Is willing to manage introductions and new situations carefully
- Leads an active lifestyle with time for daily walks and fetch
- Is ready to invest effort in exchange for unwavering devotion

Why Ruco Is Worth It:
Ruco is an intensely loyal companion who bonds deeply with his person. He has spent years being devoted to his humans and still has so much love to give. With the right match—someone who understands his needs and respects the nature of Australian Cattle Dogs—Ruco will be a constant companion, protector, and true best friend.

He deserves a home where he can finally feel safe, settled, and valued for exactly who he is. If you are an experienced dog owner looking for a devoted one-person dog and are ready for daily fetch sessions, Ruco may be the perfect fit.
