Ranger is a 4 year old, 25 lb. neutered male in Los Angeles, CA

We adopted Ranger at 11 weeks of age; his face still swollen from a bite to his face from a stray dog at around 6-7 weeks of age. With much tender loving care and a few specialist visits, Ranger made a full recovery but displayed reactive behavior (fear based reactivity) thereafter.

With the help from a board certified Animal Behaviorist and many many hours of high-level training without the need for anti-anxiety medication, Rangers reactivity and anxiety has become manageable. He otherwise is a sweet and goofy cattle dog when it comes to his family and is extremely smart, loyal and wants to please.

When given the chance, he loves to cuddle on the couch and play with his many, many toys. Ranger would do best with an experienced dog owner (male or female) and will take some time to learn to trust his new owner. He currently lives with another Senior female cattle dog who he absolutely loves (as well as loves to annoy).

Using proper introduction techniques and a slow introduction, we feel he can do okay and bond to another dog but would do best in a home without children or cats. Ranger would make an excellent running or hiking partner or even a guard dog… don’t let his small size full you!

Although he is small in size, he makes up for it with his personality. We are sadly forced to re-home him due to us having a child now. We sense it is risky to have them in the same space and are being proactive with ensuring both our dog and child are taken care of and most importantly, feel comfortable and safe.
