Lincoln is a 19 month old, 45 lb. neutered male in Lexington, VA
Lincoln is very attached to those he trusts but it takes him a little time to get used to new people. He’s especially cautious around new males but he’s not an alpha personality. He does really well with other dogs, but his instinct to herd and chase are definitely strong with him.
He’s very smart and is stubborn but learning to listen. We are very proud of the progress he’s made in the last six months. We have struggled with him nipping and trying to state his dominance to strangers. We still have to be cautious with him around children, especially when they are high strung and running around but this is pretty typical.
I would say Lincoln is a loving and loyal friend and will bond to your family absolutely. But he’s also very much a family dog. The more we involve our children the more he gives them affection. But he does need older folks to guide him though so he needs someone who’s strong willed but loving and respectful and understands his breed.
My husband was in a terrible accident earlier this year and we do not want to rehome Lincoln but we ended up having to move into town which is not good for him. He needs space. He needs other animals he can interact with (especially doggy buddies) and firm and loving guidance. It breaks my heart to even be posting him, but I pray that he can find a home that can give him more of the needs he has that we cannot afford him right now.
He’s very strong and healthy. He does tend to have skin allergies though so we have been giving him some allergy shots once every several months depending on if he shows signs of scratching or chewing on his feet the summer and spring seem to be worse for that, but he’s been without a shot since September 2025.
Please, please give Lincoln a forever home in the country where he can chase squirrels a friend other dogs and sleep in bed with you if you’re okay with that LOL.
