Huckleberry Finn is a 4 year old, 54 lb. neutered male in Dayton, OH
Huckleberry was born in our Dayton, Ohio home on June 27, 2021 to our two heelers - a stub-tail red/blue red heeler mama (Annie "Oakley") and a typical full-tail red/blue blue heeler (Daniel "Boone").
Huck has grown up with us, and is a happy-go-lucky fella. He is accustomed to women. He lives at our house with my 5 kids - 4 of which are women, and I am also a woman. He can get used to men, of course, but ladies are his favorite. He is an EXCELLENT fetching dog -- he LOVES chasing a stick or ball or frisbee for hours and hours on-end. He likes to hike and has taken many trips to Natural Bridge, Kentucky. He is a typical red heeler with some anxiety and jumpiness, so the more physical activity, the better -- and that's how he loves life, anyway. He is so expressive and loves companionship. He is a hefty, taller dingo-boy. Very muscular, and just a prime example of a healthy guy. Very long full tail.
In this past year, our older heeler (Huck's dad) Boone is a grouchy old man, and Huck does not like being around him in the slightest. We cannot rehome Boone due to his health issues. But Huck deserves to be in a home where he can relax and be happy. There is also concern for Boone, because of his aforementioned health issues and skirmishes with a much-healthier, bigger, healthier Huckleberry are becoming threatening to Boone's life. Huck has only ever been aggressive to Boone, and is totally fine around his mama Oakley and our male 5-year-old doodle. He has never shown an ounce of aggression toward any human inside or outside of our home. He has not been around cats.
Right now, Huck stays separated from Boone by having full-range all day of our back yard. However, we live in Ohio, and the weather is about to change for the worst. We will have nowhere to place Huckleberry except outdoors or in a kennel. It is a pretty desperate situation, because I do NOT want to place him in a shelter, as the environment will send his anxiety into a very dangerous and unhealthy place.
I prefer for Huck to go to a home with no other dogs.
Huck is up to date on vaccines, including rabies. He is neutered.
