This is a very hard decision to make but it's what's best for him. I have came to the decision that I need to fine a new home for Hank (Hanky). The last two years life has changed drastically and I'm finding myself working longer hours and in and out of hospitals with family therefore 1 rarely have time at home to give him the outlet that he needs.

 

I will be very specific with the home I choose because this is not an easy breed to own and they have their quirks. Hanky is a 3.5 year old neutered Australian Cattle Dog born June 2022. He's a small guy at 38-40lbs. He is up to date on vaccines, flea, and heart worm prevention. He goes to Pet Care Vet in VB.

 

He is very high energy. Loves to play fetch. Going on walks. Playing at the beach. He is crate and house trained. Going in crate on command. Knows basic commands like sit, stay, wait, paw, and leave it. He waits for his food until you release him. He does not have off leash recall. Walks on leash very well with his prong collar and has a nice heal. A fenced in yard will be a non negotiable requirement.

 

His quirks. He is dog aggressive/reactive and has a high prey drive. He has fought with other dogs in the home. So he needs a home with no dogs/cats or small animals. He has never been around children but does seem intimidated when we walk by screaming/playing/ running kids so I do not recommend him go to a home with children.

 

He takes Trazodone before going to vet appointments but does really well he just gets scared. He is also muzzle trained. I want to be 100% honest so there are no surprises. He is a typical Heeler with all the sass, attitude, and backtalk. He can be pretty vocal. He is also mouthy as the breed is known for, especially when it comes to play. By himself he is a great dog. He's so so smart and you can literally teach him anything with food. He's an awesome cuddle buddy. Great with car rides.

 

I have tried my best to give him everything that he needs and train him the best of my ability. I love him so much but somewhere there is a family who can offer him so much more. There is a rehoming fee of $200 to make sure he goes to a family who is serious on adopting him. I am in no rush as I want to find the perfect home.
