Dapple is a 3 year old, 55 lb. spayed female in Oneonta, NY

Dapple. A sweet, 3 year old spayed female.

Dapple is about 45 pounds and most likely a blue heeler/ border collie mix. No health issues, heartworm negative.

Pros:
-100% house trained
-"sits" and "downs" very well.
-No food or other resource aggression
-Learns everything very quickly
-Has incredible drive for things like ball-fetching and frisbee.
-Rides well in car, does not react to stimuli.
-Once properly introduced to unfamiliar people and other adult dogs that are calm, she is friendly and unconcerned.
-Non-destructive: can be left in the house for hours uncrated.

Things to consider:
-Has not been great with overly-exuberant dogs, tends to defend her personal space when it comes to excitement.

-Definitely needs a dog-savvy human, and someone who can exercise her regularly. Dapple needs more brain stimulation than she needs physical exercise, but the latter is important, too.

-She fixates on cars going by on the road. That said, 75% of the time I am able to have her sit and stay (on a loose leash) while the car goes by.

-Most of all, she needs a calm person whose demeanor she can lean into- she is so much happier when not thinking she has to be the boss.

-I don't know about how she might be with kids or puppies.

Dapple would make a wonderful agility dog, and would probably be awesome at rally and obedience as well.

She does not like when people greet her and immediately stick their hand in her face. She has done well when people kind of ignore her and she then goes over to them. She has never bitten a person but used to give a warning growly face when they approached her before we spoke to a trainer. This was a year ago, no issues at the foster.

Veterinary references are required, as well as a donation of $50 to the Australian Cattle Dog Rescue Association. We are willing to travel about 2 hours from Oneonta, NY.
