Bruno is a 3 year old, 45 lb. neutered male in Iowa CIty, IA

Bruno — also lovingly known as Bingo or Bing — has collected quite a few nicknames during his time with us, which speaks to just how loved he is. He is truly a 90% perfect dog in all the ways that matter. Bruno absolutely loves people and is happiest doing anything that involves his humans — runs, long walks, training sessions, car rides, or relaxing together on the couch.

Bruno knows basic commands including sit and down, and his recall is excellent — he rarely leaves your side. He is very food motivated, eager to learn, and picks up new skills quickly. He was trained on a wireless dog fence and does wonderfully respecting boundaries. On leash, Bruno is fantastic and truly enjoys long walks or runs with his people.

Bruno has been mainly an outdoor dog but does well indoors when taken out frequently. He has recently learned the command “potty” and continues to improve with routine and consistency. When he gets excited, he may jump, but he settles down quickly and responds well to redirection.

Health-wise, Bruno is neutered, up to date on all vaccinations, and receives yearly veterinary checkups. He has no known health concerns.

Bruno has no issues with people and loves human companionship. The reason for this very difficult rehoming decision is that Bruno needs to be the only pet in the household. He has lived with another dog (a Goldendoodle) and, in many contexts, does well — they play appropriately and happily when outside together and when not competing for attention.

The challenges arise when human attention is directed toward the other dog. In those moments, Bruno may initiate a conflict, which appears to be related to anxiety and resource guarding of his person’s attention, rather than generalized dog aggression. These incidents involve posturing and snapping rather than sustained attacks.

Because of this pattern, Bruno would do best in a home where he is the only dog, allowing him to feel secure and receive consistent one-on-one attention, which significantly reduces his anxiety and prevents these situations from arising.

Ideal Home Requirements:

• Only dog, no cats
• Active household that enjoys walks, runs, or outdoor time
• Owner willing to provide structure, engagement, and affection
• Experience with herding breeds is a plus but not required

We are committed to finding Bruno the right home and will carefully evaluate potential adopters to ensure a good match. We are willing to travel within reason to help Bruno get to his forever home. Bruno will come with his leash, collar, bandanas, and food. A $100 rehoming fee is being requested to help ensure a committed, loving placement.

Bruno is a loyal, affectionate, and intelligent dog who will make an incredible companion for someone looking for a devoted best friend.
