Aubergine is a 5 year old, 40 lb. spayed female mix in NY, NY
Aubergine "Aubie" is extremely high energy with very strong herding instincts and is happiest when playing Frisbee, fetch, or given commands. She is house trained, crate trained, leash/walking etiquette trained, and knows a variety of tricks. She is very food motivated and intelligent, making her very trainable.
I've done all I can to give her the structure, love, and exercise but our recent move from Texas to NYC is not proving a viable fit for her. She is anxious, lacks space, and becoming possessive of the entire apartment and aggressive to our other dogs. She is dog reactive when around me, food, and toys. She herding nips hands and rarely legs, tries to grab hands to move people, and has broken skin on me when I broke up a dog fight (though I know that was my fault) but did require medical treatment. She has fought with my other dogs many times and hurt/been hurt but never require vet visits, luckily. She is extremely possessive of me and of her toys when at home. Her aggression issues seem to not exist when I am not around.
This is an extremely hard decision for me, as I have had her all her life and refused to give up on her... but her happiness is most important. She is not getting to be her best self in the city.
I think she would be happiest on a larger property with a job she could do, farm/rural/large lot preferred. An owner experienced with cattle dogs/high energy breeds is essential. She has no preference for gender, but has not been around small children so I do not know how she'd act. She's typical heeler - herding nips, prowling low, pouncing, and can be extremely vocal.
She's in great health, approx 40lbs, fixed, up to date on all her shots. She's never had a serious medical issue and has historically been very well exercised - therefore quite strong. I will cover all rehoming fees to the right fit. She deserves the best.
