Arlow is a 4 year old, 48 lb. neutered male in West Cornwall, CT
Arlow is a heeler x mini ASD (mix).
He was purchased from a backyard breeder when he was 8 months old. He has always been very close with his chosen people and protective of them. His chosen people are (myself -woman, my children (ages 18-6 male), he is not a fan of my husband, and will growl when he enters the house, and come between us if my husband tryies to give me a hug. Arlow does not like when the children rough house and will nip at the one he thinks is “hurting” the other.
Has fully bitten one time when his foot was stuck and aid was being administered to free his foot (was not an out of aggression bite it was fear/pain based) - bite was on leg as I was moving (shin -minor bite and release).
Arlow lives in a very active home with 6 children, 2 cats (will chase if they run), and 1 dog. He gets along well with our other dog, but is standoffish when other dogs are around.
He has gone to obedience classes and completed. I use a halti, or chest clip harness to walk him. If I am taking him in public I use a muzzle as he growls and gets very nervous.
We are seeking a knowledgeable home for Arlow, where he can enjoy life to the fullest, and get the training he deserves.
He is used to a fenced yard, crate trained, and house trained.
It breaks my heart to be seeking a new home for him but with the activity level in our house and his nipping it is evident that we are not equipped.
He is UTD on his rabies. References to be checked prior to rehoming Arlow along with a fee, unless a rescue agency is taking him to find his new home.
Arlow’s long term happiness is paramount to us.
