Ace is a 6 year old, 60 lb. neutered male mix in McCordsville, IN.

Meet Ace! He is a 6 year old red heeler/ Australian shepherd mix. He will be 7 on October 15. He is also known as “Bubba” thanks to our 4 year old. He is your typical high energy heeler, but LOVES to snuggle up after a long dog of playing! He will do just about anything for a treat! Ace has been through puppy and novice training classes so he knows basic commands like sit, stay, down, roll over, and shake.

Ace will not jump onto furniture without being allowed up. Although he will jump up to greet you when you get home to let you know how much he missed you. He’s not a fan of being brushed, but he trims his own nails! He loves head pats and booty scratches! He is fully house/potty and crate trained. He loves running around in his fenced in yard and chasing birds!

Ace grew up with our older female dog who is also a Heeler/aussie mix. He has recently started becoming food and water aggressive toward her. This has caused a few scuffles that have led us to the very difficult decision of rehoming him. There were no injuries, but we don’t want either dog harmed and think this is the best solution. We also have a baby on the way and don’t think it’s the safest for our kids. Ace has never been aggressive toward myself, my husband or our daughter. He also does well with all close adults in our family.

Ideally we’d love to see Ace go to a home with land and time for him. Because of his high energy we recommend a home with no small children and because of his food aggression a home with no other dogs. He does need some extra love during thunderstorms and fireworks, loud noises scare him. He doesn’t do great on leashed walks because he gets overly excited and barks like crazy. I think with more training he would do well! We would love for him to go to someone that would be willing to send us photos and updates about him!

Ace would bring his crate, crate cover, harness, leash, and slow feed bowl with him to his new home. He takes calming medicine during firework season and vet visits. That would also go with him. He is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines.
