I’m seeking a new home for my 6 year old Australian Cattle Dog (Heeler) where he can get the active, structured lifestyle he needs. He’s high-energy, intelligent, and very affectionate, and does best when he has plenty of exercise and a job to do.

He’s friendly with people and generally does well with other dogs, but he needs an experienced owner to help manage some territorial behavior and occasional dog reactivity. He can jump a standard fence and has challenged neighbor dogs, so a secure, high fence and attentive supervision is important.

 

He has shown aggression directed at neighboring dogs over the fence, and has bitten 2 small dogs (both family pets) and I hate to separate them. Never bitten another person but he is protective.

He would do best with:
• Daily physical and mental stimulation (runs, hikes, training, regular exercise)
• A secure, high fence
• A patient, experienced owner committed to ongoing training
• A rural or very active home (not ideal for apartments or typical suburban living)

This is a difficult decision, but I want what’s best for him. In the right environment, he’s an incredible dog. If you think you may be a good fit, please reach out.
