Souta is a 10 month old, 50 lb. neutered male in San Antonio, TX.
Souta was found on the street of a neighborhood back in May. He was taken in by a family where he was neutered and spent time looking for a forever family and learning the crate and being with other dog. He was surrendered to me as the family could no longer help. Souta was herding and nipping at the family cats.
He is now in my care where he has been fully vaccinated, heart worm tested negative, and is now on heartworm and flea treatment. Souta is social with other dogs, however does nip and resource guard high value items. He needs a reminder that this isn’t okay and he is not allowed on furniture due to this.
Souta loves to play with my current dog but can get overstimulated and does need to be redirected to calm down. Souta is incredibly potty trained, and he is crate trained. He loves to play with his frisbee, and tennis balls the most. He is still learning to be a model citizen in the home and should not be left unattended. He does like to grab items that are within reach even if you’re still in the room.
Souta was not taught how to walk on a leash so this is being worked on along with boundaries, and obedience. He is also being muzzle conditioned as he did snap at the veterinarian during his wellness exam. Souta has shown some fear based behavior toward strangers as I believe he was not socialized in the beginning months of his life. He is incredibly food motivated and does take some time to get used to people.
Souta has a lot of promise and his food motivation and eager to please personality helps him learn quick. He would do best in a cattle dog savvy home that can take notice of his behaviors quick so they do not become a true issue.
