Sokka is a 2 year old, 49 lb. neutered male in Sokka in Ayer, MA.

Sokka is a very anxious boy, wasn’t taught or socialized much when he was a pup and it started to show after the first couple of months having him. When we got him, we knew we were at least his third house hold but do not know much on where he came from. He’s very skeptical of new people but when he warms up to you, he’ll always be by your side and begging for attention and food.

He’s a very goofy and sassy boy. He knows sit, lay dow, sit up, paw, roll over, stand with being house broken. He’s not a big fan of his crate but he will eventually wonder in there and sleep. We found out that his crate was used for punishment, so it took a long time for him to build up the courage to just wander into his crate on his own and be comfortable to lay down.

With the restrictions that were put on him with where we live, he just can’t thrive here and it’s showing in his behavior and we’ve noticed he’s getting more anxious and going back to being more reactive and it’s not fair to him. He needs a home with someone who has had experience with behavioral issues and can work at it with him and be patient with him. I think he would be fine in another home with a dog and a fenced in yard for him to be able to run free in, but I would recommend not with children.

He’s a reactive dog with people and dogs. With dogs most of the time he wants to be introduced but when he’s unsure he’ll bark and go into protective mode of his family. With this, we redirect him and walk away from the stressor. He does have a bite history. A stranger had walked up to him and went to pet him without asking for permission and he reacted out of fear and bit them on the hand. Since the incident, where we live, he has to be muzzled all the time outside and can’t interact with anyone outside of us. We’ve noticed since then that he’s becoming more anxious and stressed in this environment.

Sokka is in Ayer, MA.
