Reef is a 9 year old, 35 lb. neutered male in Folkston, GA
Reef is an energetic loving dog. Even though he is cautious around new people, he's very loyal and wants to be around you all the time. Don't let his age fool you he doesn't act it at all! He loves riding the side by side or going for rides in the truck! He especially likes to be outside in the barn. He loves tennis balls or anything he can chase that you throw for him to bring back!
He has been raised on a horse farm and absolutely loves running around and the typical dog thing rolling in horse poop. He does not chase them.
Reef has anxiety and does not like loud noises in dryer, guns, thunderstorms etc. Reef is crate trained and has always lived inside. I do not recommend a home with children as this is the reason I am making an extremely difficult decision to try to rehome him.
Unfortunately Reef went after my 3 yr old son thru the kennel 2 times and while it's not a lot my husband is very southern minded and will shoot him if he ends up drawing blood and I can't have that happening. I am trying to save Reef from what I know will evidently happen.
I also have a 10 month old daughter. My son helps me let him out of his kennel to go to the bathroom, they have gone on the side by side riding together with me. He's even fed him, however both incidents I was not around for and my husband believes dogs shouldn't bite no matter what and I think opposite. I think its Reef's kennel and even if my son was just trying to water him he felt threatened and tried to tell him.
He's extremely healthy. Since he was a puppy he has hauled to horse shows with me. I would love someone to give him a chance or I will make the decision to euthanize him. I never in my life thought I'd be at this point and 9 years ago I didn't want children however it isn't fair to my family or Reef and I am stuck making a terrible decision no matter which way it goes.
Thank you for taking the time to read. He is with 2 other dogs and at the time I got him I had a total of 4 heelers. My oldest passed away at 13 1/2. I currently have a 14 yr old female, and two 9 year olds a male( reef) and female. I will do what I can to find him the best home possible that fits for him and I hope they can keep me updated on how he is doing and if at any time he doesn't work out I will take him back.
