Mousse is a 6 year old, 55 lb. neutered male in Hanover, MA.

Mousse has lived with us since he was 8 weeks old. He has a ton of personality, is so loving/goofy, he loves to cuddle and play fetch. As much as it breaks our hearts we need to rehome him as my wife and I are currently expecting our first child and given his nature to growl/nip and lack of control when it comes to barreling into things we do not think it would be safe for the baby or for Mousse to have them both in the same household.

As a puppy he was highly socialized with both people and pets however as he has gotten older he has become very wary of strangers. His first reaction to most people will be to nip at them. We understand this is a common heeler trait and while most people can push past his initial wariness and quickly become great friends we do not want to risk it with a child in the house or with future children/relatives visiting. We have worked with a trainer who quickly warmed up to Mousse and Mousse listened to/trusted this trainer but we do not believe his nature can ever truly be curbed at this point when it comes to his tendency to bite.

We desperately want to find him a home that fits him as he and my wife are closely bonded. We just don’t want to end up in a scenario where our child is hurt and/or Mousse has to be put down. Due to his nature we know putting him in a shelter would potentially be the death of him so we are desperate for other options.

We are located 20 minutes south of Boston and willing to travel anywhere to ensure he goes to the right home. He is house trained and crate trained and knows basic commands. Very eager to learn new things and is very food driven. Thank you for your time and consideration.
