Lucy is a 7 month old, 28 lb. spayed female in Honesdale, PA
Lucy is a female blue heeler/australian shephard (aka Texas Heeler). She is about 7 months old and around 28 lbs. Lucy is such a smart and loyal girl. She loves playing with her squeaky banana and doing tricks like running through her tunnel, paw, and more. She has been through AKC star puppy and passed!
She learns fast and is good in general with other dogs. She is good in public but hesitant about new people in her house and takes some warming up in those situations.
We both work full time and are unable to meet her energy needs the majority of the time because if this. Unfortunately, around 5 -6 months old she also stopped respecting the boundaries of our two cats. She doesn't show aggression but is causing them (and us) a lot of stress.
I'm not sure if this would count as behavioral aggression but she is dealing with some resource guarding issues. She did bite 2x and draw blood when trying to take an item from her mouth she shouldn't have. Since then we have changed to a gentler approach to taking things from her which has worked. She otherwise doesn't exhibit aggression around food or anything else.
She would do well with a family that loves training or agility. She would also do well with a family that has more time to spend with her in general and exercise her. Someone with some experience with the breed may also help with understanding her quirks!
