Locke is 10 year old neutered male purebreed red heeler who, through no fault of his own, needs to find a new home. He is located between the Poconos and Philadelphia in Pennsylvania.
Locke is an intelligent, attentive, and loyal boy who is obedience trained, crate trained, and fully housebroken. He is up to date with vaccinations and has no medical history.
His favorite pastimes are learning new tricks, agility courses, and lying in the grass. He is very food motivated and learns new commands quickly in order to be rewarded. He also enjoys nosework and easy to medium level puzzle boxes. He has never tried to herd anything except a few chickens he was very unsure of.
Locke recently moved with his owner from the Poconos where he had a large yard to a Philadelphia apartment, and the adjustment has not been easy. In addition to the location change, his owner has been increasingly unable to sufficiently keep up with his exercise and attention demands, and Locke deserves better than what his owner is able to provide.
Locke does just fine with kids and tolerates other dogs and cats, but may require some time to get used to them. He would do best in a home where he is either the only dog, or with another senior dog as Locke values quiet. A yard is a must and he will spend as much time outside as you will let him. Locke will come with his crate, food, and all his belongings. We are happy to travel to you if you are within driving distance from eastern Pennsylvania, or he can be picked up in Philadelphia.
