Layla is a 32 lb., 15 month old spayed mix in Brunswick, ME.
Layla is a 15 month female old heeler mix located in Brunswick, Maine. She is about 32 lbs and is fully grown. She is very energetic, loves to play fetch and frisbee, and likes to play with her Jolly ball. She is housebroken and crate trained. She is very good about being quiet in her crate at night. She is happy, healthy, and would love a home where she can have a large yard to play in! She is okay with cats after careful introduction, and she would likely be okay with another dog as long as that dog was able to be the "alpha" and put her in her place! She does not do well with small children, so she needs a home with teenagers or adults only.
We are rehoming her because she growls and nips at small children (a fear-based behavior according to our trainer).
Layla displays fear-based aggression towards other dogs, snapping, growling, pulling on the leash to get to them. She also barks, growls, and snaps at small children when they are noisy or moving quickly (NOT heel nipping like a typical herding dog). She is fine with older children over 12. She has never broken skin or required medical treatment. Snaps are directed at children's hands and ankles, and at other dogs' faces.
She has made good progress and learned a lot in her time with us. She will make a loving, loyal pet for the right home. We are willing to "meet halfway" with transport in the New England states. Adoption fee can be negotiated based on transportation costs.
Layla is in Brunswick, ME.
