Kodak is a 5 year old, 45 lb. neutered mix in Rochester, NY.
Kodak is an amazing red heeler mix. He's smart, funny, playful, and a joy to be around. A true "velcro" dog, he loves being around his person, but he's also well behaved while at home alone. He loves his daily walks and is also calm and loves snuggling after work too. He's good with other dogs and cats, but cannot be in a home where young children visit. He's a slim 40ish pounds and is medium activity level.
He needs a home without young children or a lot of unfamiliar visitors. He's being re-homed due to herding and nipping young children; he reacts to their quick movement. He has broken the skin on face and hands of small children and on very small children (toddlers) he has nipped at the face multiple times. For this reason, he cannot be in a home with children under the age of 12. He needs a home without lots of unfamiliar visitors. He gets very anxious in busy homes with lots of unfamiliar people. He should not go to a home where young children visit, where people entertain a lot or where lots of unfamiliar people stop by to visit. He gets very anxious around unfamiliar visitors and his nipping and herding instincts go haywire. When at home among his people, he's a very chill, lovable guy.
Kodak is otherwise well trained and knows sit, down, shake, roll over, and leave it. He's working on crate training, but since he's calm when at home, this is more a question of family preference. He's very smart and learns quickly. He'd be great at agility and loves a good game of fetch.
He's an incredible dog and would be a wonderful addition to an active family that loves bringing him on adventures. We're devastated to have to let him go, but our home has too many young visitors. He's up-to-date on all vaccinations and will come with his toys, leash, car seat belt and whatever else we have. Please help us find a wonderful home for this lovable boy!
