Fully vaccinated and neutered Male -

10 months (DOB 1/5/24) - 49 lb

Joey is a happy, playful, energetic, smart, loving, and loyal Blue Heeler/Aussie mix! He loves company above all other things!

Joey is good with other dogs, has never met a cat, has a little exposure to larger farm animals, and does well with kids over 7 or 8yrs old (he is a bit much for the younger ones). He is not reactive towards people or dogs other than wanting to play if they acknowledge him.

Joey knows most basic commands: come, sit, stay, up, down, leave it, drop it, and crate. He has no professional training but would soak it up. He is very food motivated and loves to learn new things!

We are regretfully seeking a new home because Joey is too much for our family. We underestimated the needs of his breed. My husband and I have a lot of young nieces and nephews that cannot play with Joey safely, and consequently, the pup has to be locked up or left behind. We hope to find a home for Joey with more land and maybe other dogs or older kids where Joey can run and get the adventure and fulfillment out of life that he craves.

Joey did show some signs of resource guarding when we first got him, but only with the highly luxury bones. He has not shown those tendencies in several months, and has never shown those signs with his toys or food, only those special bones. This is a pretty typical blue Heeler thing, but good to be aware of. Joey has never been territorial of his crate, and loves to sleep in there with his favorite blankey.

Joey is a heavy chewer - mostly nylabones and sticks outside. He does not chew shoes or furniture or other things inside. He listens to “leave it” well. The only thing I had issues with him chewing was towels, but he seems to be outgrowing it.
