Cody is a 2  year old, 45 lb. neutered male in Minneapolis, MN.

We are looking for a loving home for our dog with someone or a family who has experience with heelers. Cody has been a loving companion for me and my 8 and 10 year old and husband but we are overwhelmed by an upcoming big life transition (elderly mother moving in with us with her own small dog) and I have been overwhelmed with my own illnesses and my 8 year old's illnesses.

Cody is super smart. He knows "leave it, sit, stay, roll over/bang, shake paw, lie down" and he's housetrained and crate trained to sleep and for breaks but prefers to be out of the crate when we leave our house. He is good alone at home and in the car and does not get into shenanigans when we leave him.

He loves dog parks and running and problem solving/agility work. He'd like to learn more tricks and go on more adventures. He is overall cautious of anyone and mostly doesn't bother with humans outside of our home when we are out on walks or at dog parks. His territorial aggression has only manifested in our home and only with people he doesn't know. He has nipped the dog trainer who was working with him in our home (hand) and nipped a child's hand at the bus stop who was petting him twice (and not following his cues that he wanted space) when Cody was overwhelmed and my partner was distracted and unaware of Cody's body language and need for space. No broken skin and no medical treatment needed.

He goes to dog daycare in the neighborhood and LOVES dogs. He can be cautious at first (as is his nature) but warms up and had good dog friends. He has food allergies and is on a cooked diet of rice and ground turkey. He also has a hydrolyzed protein kibble to round out his diet. We have found other proteins cause him GI upset (diarrhea, occasionally vomiting).

He will be happy lying around most of the day but at 4pm wants to go on a long walk, a run, or a trip to the dog park to burn it off. He goes potty in our small fenced in yard and he also likes to play with toys, tug, occasional fetching of tennis balls. He's a great jumper and if you like doing agiility work he's your guy!

We have loved him up since he was 12 weeks old, figured out his allergies over many months, treated him for heartworm which he had from Mississippi where he was born, and has started behavior training for his territorial aggression. We are looking for someone/s to love him to the next step. Willing to travel out of state for the right home for Cody. We want to see him thrive. Thank you for looking at our sweet and loving boy.
