Busetlo is a 2.5 year old, 32 lb. neutered male in
Marietta, GA
Enter Bustelo, a world class goober boy. He's 2, going on 3 in December. He is precious, affectionate, and energetic. Bustelo needs someone who wants to invest time in him, exercise with him, and devote snuggles to him. He is a fantastic running and walking buddy, and while he doesn’t really play catch, he loves to tug and if someone would teach him, we think he’d be amazing at something like Frisbee! He’s also a big fan of toys (and socks, hah!)
His overall demeanor is happy and playful, with a curiosity for new people. He’s accustomed to noisy homes and large gatherings, too. He’s got so much personality, and we have loved his silly side so much. While he enjoys being with his humans, he is also comfortable relaxing on his own. Bustelo is a clear communicator. He’s vocal when he needs things, and is a fantastic guard dog. He is so snuggly; it’s likely he’ll want to be on the couch and in the bed with whoever gets to love him next. However, he’s crate-trained and has been sleeping in his crate at night for a few months now. He’s also house trained.
Bustelo has a lot of energy, but that is easily tapered with exercise and activities - the more he has to do, the more relaxed he is. He’s been living in a single family home with a fenced yard since he was 3 months old, so we feel strongly about a yard and room for this boy to move.
The last two years, he has resided in a home with two female dogs; when he was rescued, he displayed signs of resource guarding early on, but the household worked to address those issues. We also worked with trainers - he’s an incredibly smart boy, and will excel in a structured home! However, in the last 3-4 months, Bustelo has started showing aggression towards his siblings, with lots of snapping, lunging, and very still body language. Recently, it has escalated to biting and leaving small wounds, and unfortunately, our other dogs are now feeling unsafe in their home with his presence. We have run labs and asked our vet to investigate if there are any health related issues, but nothing has come back odd or abnormal. We can’t explain the shift, unfortunately, so we recommend that Bustelo be in a home only with humans for now. He has never shown aggression towards humans.
We are based in Marietta, GA, and are willing to assist with transport depending on the distance. He’s not a big fan of car rides (he has motion sickness), so we are hoping to find a potential foster or adopter closer to home. We would love to have folks come meet him if they are interested; happy to host calls to discuss him or answer any questions a potential family may have.
Bustelo is spayed, healthy, and up to date on all his vaccinations, and is microchipped. We also have everything a family would need for Bustelo - a large crate with a kennel bed, a regular bed, leash and harness, preventative (if we have some remaining at time of adoption), toys, and we would be happy to supply some of the dog food he’s been eating for the new family as well. We also have a full Wisdom Panel we are happy to share with anyone who is interested. We are hoping to find this sweet boy a home, and don’t want funding to be a barrier. We would love it if the family who adopts him would be willing to make a donation of any size to the ACDRA for assisting us with finding him a new family.
