Bernie is a 2 year old, 55 lb. neutered male in Kent, CT

He does well with women mostly, he loves to be near you as any Velcro dog would be, he loves to snuggle, he is house broken. He loves to play fetch and tug especially with rope or a ring. He is at first a bit antisocial with other dogs at first but will be playful after a while in a structured play setting. I did put him through a board and train for ecollar training that requires a structured scheduled plan with walking and structured play, the trainer I hired is willing to connect with any new owner.

He is fearful reactive. He has bitten me and my husband in the hand and most recently bitten my finger that required stitches however it is not because he’s an aggressive dog. It’s just my husband does not have the patience and the personality to deal with his energy, he definitely deserves to be in a better home. it’s just we have had no time to let him out to run around and work off his energy so it’s pent up energy and redirected big feelings and he is not trustworthy to be outside alone he has always been a leashed dog, I have brought him to a trainer for behavior modification and e collar training which he has succeeded in but unfortunately I have no time to give him the mental stimulation and physical stimulation he properly needs for his breed, he’s inside for 10-12 hours a day when we go to work and barely outside when we get home, he just deserves the space probably best if fenced and someone to have the time to do structured play and mental stimulation he needs. He’s a cuddly boy and is okay with playing with other dogs after he gets used to them. Not sure how he is with kids because never had the opportunity.

If possible there is 2 payments left owed to the trainer but it’s a full year of support and a few follow up sessions in Simsbury CT that any new owner can utilize, I’m in direct communication with them and they’re aware that we are rehoming him. He is a sweet and funny boy. He just needs more attention and play time than we can give him. He is a great boy. He is a bit skittish right now with collar on and off but in training he has had that addressed and worked through it will take time For him to he used to you touching him. He is neutered and up to date on all his shots.

He needs someone with a lot of patience and understanding of his mind and feelings. Currently we’re in Kent, CT, but trainer is in Simsbury, CT. He does not like cats. I’m not sure if a home with small children is a good home for him because he has had bite history due to his fearful reactivity and pent up energy due not getting enjoy stimulus. He loves to run, but mostly been a leash dog so a fenced in home that he can’t figure out how to escape is best suited for him as this is not something we can provide him that I know he will strive in.
