Belle is a 13 year old, 47 lb. spayed female in Atlanta, GA.

Belle has enjoyed a single home for 12 years after being rescued as a puppy. Belle loves to play with and chew her toy, and only her toy - she will play fetch to exhaustion. Belle loves to be with her humans and has never gone missing, Belle enjoyed regular long walks & runs most of her life. For the past 2 years Belle's humans have not walked her as often while raising a child. Belle has recently mellowed into a sweet 13 year old lady. Belle always prefers to occupy a room with a human in it, and never forgets a friend who provides her a seated foot-belly rub. On occasion Belle will use her paw to ask permission to climb into your lap. She visited the Vet last week and is in good health, though she is losing her vision - a common aliment with aging pure-bred heelers. She is always hungry and always ready to go for a walk.

Week one after being rescued, Belle nipped at new human's knee, not making contact, but, immediately got some help with training, and has never since nipped at her adult human companions or friends. Though still playful and fetch happy with humans, Belle rarely has an interest in playing with most dogs. She 'smiles' and turns her head away when playful pups approach. Over 12 years, several dogs have been bitten, many around disputes with possessions like food and toys, one while hiking past on a narrow trail. Belle has broken skin on dogs, mild puncture on shoulder. 6 years ago, Belle did receive a severe dog bite laceration along the inside lower front leg, which has healed. As a puppy she did nip at a 6 year old human while staying at a friend's home. Belle has generally ignored the existence of children. Now her humans have a 2.25 year old human, who she has warmed up to, but on occasion still 'smiles' at when being solicited. Baby gates have afforded Belle a safe space for a few years, but It is no longer possible to provide Belle with the safety of a child free zone, and this is why she needs a new home. Her rabies vaccine is current and may soon receive a booster for parvo/distemper (vanguard).

Belle is in Atlanta, GA.
