Bandit is 1.5 year old, 41 lb. neutered male in Morgan Hill, CA.
Unfortunately I have to rehome my very affectionate and clingy 1.5 year old Australian Cattle Dog (neutered male), Bandit. I rescued him from the veterinary clinic I work at where the owner was going to put him down because he broke his front leg, and couldn’t afford surgery. Bandit's leg had severe nerve damage and had to be amputated. My coworker had been trying to rehome him for months after his surrender but no success with any rescues or resources. It was getting to the point where my coworker (who had him) became very burnt out. So I decided to take him. He is very smart, loving, food motivated, and sassy lol. He loves to play fetch and go on walks/short hikes. He is house trained and crate trained.
I don’t know what his life was like previously because I’ve only had him for 6 months. And though he is very sweet, he is fearful of many things and still requires training to build his confidence. He has never been aggressive or bit anyone. He is just fearful. He needs an owner who is experienced with the breed and is willing to be a strong leader. He is cautious of strangers, loud noises, new environments and sometimes other dogs (He has been able to live in a multi dog household and loves living with other dogs). He doesn’t like children and would do best in 1-3 person household. He is not a family dog currently. With training and medication, he has improved and his confidence has grown. However, I’m currently a working college student that can no longer make the time commitment he needs for training, and exercise. He has all his vaccines, had a dental cleaning, and annual bloodwork (which will be provided).
If you or someone you know that lives in the California Bay Area is interested please reach out!
I will keep him till he finds his new home, but he does need someone who can care for him properly soon. Thank you!
