Poor sweet Sadie. The first shot was very painful and she didn't take it well. And the next day she received another shot. At last, she is starting to feel better. But the long recovery process is still in front of her.

Heartworm is easily avoided by using monthly heartworm preventatives, which Sadie and her sister Becca obviously didn't receive in their previous home. So now she will need complete crate rest for 4 long weeks so the dying worms don't get into her bloodstream and cause problems.

Cost of treatment: $500.

Sadie is a beautiful girl who will be looking for a new family once her crate rest is over. And, no, she isn't being fostered in New Mexico! She is actually in New Jersey. But Sadie's foster mom has a collection of fun backdrops she uses when she photographs her fosters. See the next entry for more great pictures of Sadie and her sister Belle.

Thursday May 5: Leg 9

Chase is the next "Planes, Vans and Automobiles" dog to become available for adoption!
Roscoe certainly acts younger than the 10 years old he was thought to be by the shelter. He's not super active but he has no trouble jumping up in excitement at dinner time.

What he loves more than anything else is to be with his foster mom. He follows her everywhere -- but he never asks for anything more than a belly rub. He ADORES getting his belly rubbed. His other favorite activity is laying in the sunshine.
