Listing a dog on our Placement page:
The ACDRA will list ACDs on the Owner Placement Page of our website if an owner feels that he or she absolutely must re-home a dog. We encourage owners to first contact the place where the ACD was initially acquired to find out if returning them is an option.
Our placement service is free, but as our rescue service is largely dependent on donations for its operating funds, we would gratefully accept any donations, particularly if a dog is able to find a home through our listing. We have been successful in placing approximately 90% of our listed dogs, but please realize that it may take some time and that an owner would be expected to be able to keep the dog until adopted.
The ACDRA will attempt to put prospective adopters in touch with owners seeking to place their dogs, after which it is up to the two parties to come to an agreement as to the placement of the dog. In this case the ACDRA is not directly involved in the actual adoption.
The following information is required to list a dog on our Owner Placements page:
Proof of up-to-date shots and heartworm negative status (i.e. vet records/receipts) Proof of neutering Picture of the dog (Both to validate his breed and to be used in the listing) A one or two paragraph description of the dog (age, color, size/weight, markings, etc.), and of his personality. (Is he good with children? Cats? Other dogs? Any training? House trained? OK in crate? Anything to make him an individual that someone would want to adopt.) Where the dog is located and contact info for you (e-mail address is mandatory and phone number is optional).
All of the necessary documents can be emailed to our placement coordinator. We recommend looking at our Owner Placement Page to see how dogs are listed and to get an idea of how other people have handled descriptions.
