Jetta is a very sweet 7 year old, spayed ACD looking for her perfect home.
She's a friendly, polite girl who loves attention. Jetta’s elderly owner was no longer able to care for her, so through no fault of her own, Jetta was surrendered to a shelter and was facing euthanasia. A rescue volunteer went to the shelter to meet Jetta and came back with rave reviews about this awesome girl.
Jetta is on the small side for ACDs - only 14" tall and weighs in at 32 lbs. She is crate trained and house trained. Jetta has vision impairment – a genetic problem called PRA. She has significant vision loss, but is not completely blind. She does amazingly well once she is familiar with her surroundings – can maneuver up and down steps and around rooms with no problem – as long as everything stays in its normal place. Jetta loves to be outside, but does need a fenced in yard due to her vision problems.
Jetta is extremely friendly and loving towards people, but would do best in a home without small children, since sudden movements can startle her due to her vision loss. She absolutely loves cats – tries to play with the resident cat, but also occasionally steps on him accidentally when he’s lounging on the floor. She’s respectful when swatted by the cat – but any cats she lives with must be dog-friendly, since she can’t see claws coming at her eyes. She does well with other dogs, once she’s introduced – but does get nervous if they rough-house or get extremely excited. She would do best as an only dog, or with another calm dog who isn’t dominant.
Because of her age, Jetta's adoption fee is waived if she is adopted by a person 60 years or older. Jetta is up-to-date on all shots and preventatives and is being fostered in Karns City, PA.

Ginger is 1-1/2 yr old petite red female, no tail, in foster home in Maine.
She is small (35 pounds), lean and quick. She is now living with 3 other cattle dogs and two cats. She has made great progress learning to get along with the cats. She is sweet and very friendly. Acts well around my horses. She has started some basic agility and is very smart. Typical cattle dog personality, loves to lie on her back and be petted and loves to play with her rubber ball. She is a high energy dog, not a couch potato.
She is very good in the car and settles well while traveling. She will leap out so careful leashing tactics are required, but that is getting better. She is now friendly to cats so no reason she can’t be with a cat household. She is pretty good on leash. She hasn't been around children, but I guess she would be ok with older children since she is very good with strangers. She does herd though and has sharp teeth and makes fierce noises. There is nothing aggressive about her, just a lot of energy!
I think a fenced yard would be best for Ginger so she can get the outlet for her considerable energy.
Ginger is spayed and up-to-date on all vaccines and preventatives. She is being fostered in Maine.

Frankie is a 2 year old, 40 pound boy looking for an ACD saavy home.
Frankie is a sweet boy who was found as a stray in North Carolina. His owners were found but decided that his high energy personality was too much for their lifestyle so surrendered him to the shelter. He came into rescue knowing very little about being a good member of any family. He could sit and was crate trained, but his play manners were similar to a young hooligan!! He is learning every day how to have self-control and how to be a gentle boy. He has a very sweet personality inside of a silly, foolish, shell and is looking for the right person to teach him how to be a good boy all of the time.
Frankie is a 2 year old, 40 pound boy looking for an ACD saavy home. He would do very well in a home with another dog who is willing to show him the ropes but won't push him around. He is a sweet and loving boy who needs a strong leader who is willing to be patient with him and teach him self-control and gentle manners. Frankie is a quick learner and knows such basics as sit, down, stay, and come when called. He walks well on a leash and loves to go on walks around town. He is not the kind of boy to sit quietly around the house all day. Frankie would love a home with an active adult to take him hiking, running, or just walking around town and seeing new things. He would love to find a home with someone who wants to learn more about fun dog sports and positive training methods.
Frankie cannot live with cats. He is too much dog for small children as his energy can seem boundless at times and he would likely knock them over and be too rough. A fenced yard is important for Frankie as he feels the need to chase small things that move and his recall cannot be trusted with distractions.
Frankie is being fostered in Waldoboro, ME.

Blue is a compact velcro cutie pie looking for someone to love.
Blue is a 3 year old, little blue heeler from North Carolina. He is a little boy, only 36 lbs but a handful! He was never in a house til about 4 weeks ago, so we are working on his manners. He has only had one accident since he's been in foster care. He does well as long as you take him out every couple hours. He is learning how to behave in the house, but he will try to chew anything he can get a hold of if you don’t watch him. When told "no", he is very good and stops immediately.
He is a very affectionate dog considering the situation he came from. He does try to jump but is learning that’s not allowed. He seems very good with kids and likes to play. I do not recommend a house with cats (very high prey drive). If someone was willing to work with him, I know he could get over this, but it would time and commitment.
He walks very well on a leash, no pulling, just a lot of wanting to stop and smell. I think that’s from being kenneled for almost three years and never being able to smell his environment beyond the kennel.
He gets along great with other dogs, tries to hog all the attention and does not get aggressive. He is like a Velcro dog with his people. He would be a wonderful pet for someone.
Blue is up-to-date on all shots and preventatives, neutered and is being fostered in Jersey Shore, PA.

Pucci is an almost 3 year old sweetheart looking for a loving family
Pucci is an almost-3-year-old red neutered boy from North Carolina. He was never inside a house til about three and a half weeks ago. We had to house train him and are still working on inside manners. Pucci had to fight for food with his brothers and sisters. I think they even had to fight for attention. Even though he had to do this, he is still so sweet natured. He is learning the basics of sit, stay, etc. plus what it means to be a dog and how to play. We recently found out the he loves water, whether a doggie pool in the back yard or the streams at a local state park that he goes to everyday.
Pucci walks very well on a leash as long as you let him know you are in charge. When we first start out, I keep him right beside me til he wares off that excited energy. Once you start going, he pretty much stays with you. He likes to stop a lot and smell but I think that’s from never being out of his kennel. He is 52.7 lbs and can be a handful if you let him lead.
He is wonderful with other dogs, likes to play and is not pushy. He is good with kids but because of his size, I wouldn’t recommend kids under 5 years of age. Pucci is not good with cats (very high prey drive). I think it’s from being kenneled for so long, but he will chase as long as the cat is running. My cats are used to strange dogs and know not to run and he still went after them not moving. I think he could be trained but it would take some time and commitment. He is a sweetheart, very intelligent and a quick learner and is going to be a great dog for some lucky person or family.
Pucci is up-to-date on all shots and preventatives and is being fostered in Jersey Shore, PA.

Hogan is about 6 months old and is looking for his "hero"!
Hogan is approximately 6 months old, was found as stray and was in a shelter for about a month before going into his foster home. He has what looks like a scar across his face, so he may have had a tough time early in life, but he has such enthusiasm and joy that you'd never know it.
He is around 25-30 pounds, a little on the skinny side (but we are working on that) and is an extremely affable, lovable, outgoing pup whose favorite things are cuddling, going for walks, exploring new smells, and playing with his doggie neighbors. He has plenty of that puppy energy and it is amusing to watch him go! While in foster care, Hogan has been learning some basic obedience and manners, and will sit, come when called, and walk on a leash (with the occasional burst of exuberance). His potty-training is coming along well. He is crate trained, but would definitely prefer to sleep with you, as he is a world-class snuggler.
Because of his exuberance and youth, he might be overwhelming to very small children, but he is very trainable and eager to please. He has done well with other dogs; he even got my cranky 12-year old ACD to play with him! Hogan is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on his shots. Hogan needs a home that understands pups and will be consistent with guidance. He is one sweet, sweet boy and will make someone an exceptional companion, and deserves a forever home that will return the love he has to give. Will you be Hogan’s hero?
Hogan is up to date on all shots and preventatives and is being fostered in Schenectady, NY.

Spinks is a sweet and handsome 4 year old 48 lb. boy.
He is HW+, but was treated and is now recovering wonderfully. He spends most of his time in the crate as part of the recovering process, but wants to badly to play with our other ACDs, who he gets along great with! For the most part, though, he is very content being in his kennel chewing rawhides, playing with his toys, eating his food, and occasionally going for short walks in the backyard.
He also enjoys sitting by the window, basking in the sun, and finding quiet places to nap. He is flexible. He could do great in a quieter home living a simple, relaxing life, or he could go out hiking and walking everyday with a more active family.
Spinks would do great in a home with or without other dogs. He is an easy going boy that goes with the flow. Spinks takes treats very gently from our hands and is not food aggressive. He likes being with his people, he is a very loyal boy.
This handsome fellow is one of the sweetest dogs I have ever met and once he has recovered, I am sure he will find a forever home in no time!
Spinks is up to date on his shots. He is also neutered and microchipped. He is currently being fostered in Sackets Harbor, NY.

Bentley is an 8-week old female puppy.
She was picked up as a stray in Western PA. She is a real sweet girl, but we are working on teaching her some manners and the difference between the way she plays with her doggy friends and the way she plays with her people. She can be a little fresh, as all puppies can be, but with a little correction and guidance, she is wonderful. Bentley is cute, but will need to be adopted by a person that will work with her, teach her and love her unconditionally. If you let her nip you now, even though it may seem cute and may be hard to correct her, she will continue to do so and it will become worse and a very bad behavior as an older dog. She needs someone to be her leader as she will form a wonderful and close bond with her forever family or person. We are working on potty training. She is doing great, but is still young. She does not like her crate, but will tolerate it. Hopefully, she will pass her potty training phase quickly and won't need the crate for too much longer. Obedience, Agility, Nosework and even Therapy Training classes would be wonderful classes to take with Bentley so she can really excel.
Right now her weight is about 5 pounds and that is healthy for her age. Bentley is being fostered in Long Valley, NJ. Applicants must be within 75 miles of Long Valley, NJ.

ADOPTION PENDING! Coby is a happy, active, 9 year old!
He is a bit heavy and we are working on that, but that doesn't keep him from being a happy hiker. He barks with excitement when he knows he is going for a hike.
Coby has such nice manners. He stays by our side or at our heels, on or off leash, for a good long walk. He might run ahead for a 10 foot distance in excitement, but then he is right back with his person.
He also loves riding in the car or truck. He especially loves sniffing out the car window. He just loves new things and being with his people. One of his favorite things at his foster home is going to the dog park. He mostly stays with his people when he is there, but he loves seeing and sniffing and every visit he is becoming more adventurous. Today he ran across the park in play behind the other dogs.
He likes squeaky balls and sometimes will chew on a soft toy. He is fine with cats and other dogs. He isn't destructive in the house and so isn't currently crated. He sleeps beside the bed, just like a good Cattle Dog. He is showing himself to be a very smart, sensible dog.
ACDRA has provided Coby with a comprehensive vetting and it did not show any significant health issues. He has a good teeth cleaning scheduled.
Coby was turned in to a Blue Ridge mountain shelter in VA. It was discovered that the owner had actually turned him in, calling him a stray. The shelter workers really liked Coby and helped us get him to safety. Cody is being fostered in near Richmond, Virginia.

ADOPTED! Jazz is a 2-3 year old ACD/Corgi mix.
She is UTD on her shots and spayed. She was seized from a hoarding situation by the State of Virginia and placed in the local area animal control facility. ACDRA rescued her along with other ACDs from the AC facility once alerted to the situation.
Jazz is a very sweet natured dog. She is small in height but giant in heart. She needs a couple of days to warm up to her surroundings (probably due to the fact that she was never properly socialized with the great big world outside). But once she is familiar with the environment this little girl is a velcro sticker. She loves to be with her people. She gets along with other dogs and is afraid of cats (we are talking belly crawl by the evil kitty). She is not overly active with an energy level of low. Her favorite activity is snuggling on the couch while her people watch TV. She is learning proper leash walking manners while she is introduced to all things normal dogs are raised around. She is making excellent progress everyday. She is going to make some lucky person her best friend for life.
Jazz is being fostered in Riverside, RI.

ADOPTED! Little Ricky is going to be somebody’s heart dog.
Little Ricky – and his brother Seamus – were found as puppies wandering the streets in Henderson, NC. They had not been cared for, which caused them to have gastric upset and stunted their growth. They are both beautiful, growing quickly, and getting stronger every day.
Little Ricky is going to be somebody’s heart dog. He is super sweet, loves people and loves other dogs. He is a little guy, but still developing. He is a gentle soul, and loves to be loved.
Ricky likes to play fetch with my other dogs, and enjoys taking turns playing chase games. He learns the ropes quickly, is sensitive to kind direction, and was quick fit in to my family. He is a Velcro baby, and can usually be found next to me, quietly chewing on a bone or toy.
Because of his digestive issues, he needs to be placed in an environment where someone is home most of the day, and can take him out every few hours. He would also appreciate the company of another dog. He has been a sweetheart in our home, a sensitive smart little guy.
Ricky is UTD on his shots and is on HW, flea and tick prevention and being fostered in Jefferson, NY.

ADOPTED! Linda is a petite 24 lb. red ACD between 4 and 5 years old.
Hi my name is Linda, I am an small adult red ACD only about 24 lbs, but I could afford to lose a few of those! The vet said I am between 4 to 5 years old. I was never really good at counting, and who cares anyway? I love people of all ages. I enjoy being petted, and will sit in your lap if you let me. I listen well, so if you tell me you don't want me in your chair or bed, I will behave. You may have to tell me a few times but I do listen! I really enjoy just laying at your feet.
I love my crate, it is my safe place! Please don't use it as punishment cause I go there to sleep or when I want some “me” time. My foster dad puts me in my crate at bedtime or when he and the family go out. I don't cry and I am happy to see them on release. I don't think I would want to spend all day in my crate though!
I will chew on a ball, for about 10 seconds, and I then I am through. I want to be your one and only because I don't really enjoy playing with other dogs. I am super cool with my foster family's cat. I like her. The fosters' dog chases the cat and I protect the cat so we get along great. I may or may not like your cat, and it should be pretty dog savvy if we are to get along!
I know I love squirrels, and if I could catch one... mmm mmm good! I have a really high prey drive. I love to go on walks, I get really wound up when I see a leash or halter, and I want to go. I will walk, but I need some more manners on my leash. My foster parents are trying to help me get better at not pulling so much. I like to run for a little bit when we go for walks, but I am a small dog so the pace can't be too fast. I also will walk at a slow pace, I just need to walk and explore! I would be happiest if I was in a home that took me outside, continued to work with me, and I was your only pet. I may growl and snarl at certain dogs if they get in my face, but I would never growl at my humans! If you have had experience with herding dogs, I might be able to go into a home with another dog, as I live that way now, but me and my foster sister are not allowed to be together unsupervised!
I have been spayed and have all my shots. I have a microchip, and am on HW, flea and tick prevention!
Linda is being fostered in Portsmouth Virginia.

ADOPTED! Need a dog to hang around the farm, then Chase is For you!
Chase is a handsome, 55 pound 6 year old that is still full of energy! He loves to play ball or beat himself with a tug jolly ball! He likes to be with his people but is very independent. He loves to get hugs and lay down with you but some days will choose to be on his own. In the yard or woods he will keep an eye on you. He would make a great running/hiking in the woods dog. Chase needs to run around at least twice a day. This could be taken care of by letting him play with toys. He is up to date on his shots, microchipped and neutered.
Chase knows sit, stay/wait, lay down, paw, roll over and can balance a ball on his nose. He will test you with listening and you must be assertive or else he wont listen. Although he is not food aggressive, he inhales his food or treats. We use a tug-a-jug at the moment to get him to eat slower and tell him “easy” every time he takes a treat so he doesn’t try to inhale it.
Chase needs an ACD savvy home. He needs someone who can have the upper hand if needed. If he doesn’t think you will make him do it then he won’t listen. He is doing great with the NILIF ("Nothing in Life is Free") training. So making him wait before he bolts out the door is one way. If you choose to get lazy with him, he will soon take advantage and start doing whatever he pleases.
Chase can only be adopted into a home that has a fenced yard or lives in a rural area. By rural I mean you can’t see the next door neighbor. This is because Chase was contained for so much of his life he isn’t happy going into a kennel or crate. He also doesn’t like to be restrained by a leash. He will walk on one but can become strong and doesn’t like correction. Also, Chase can be a gentle giant while lounging around but can become head strong in certain situations. He will try to jump on you at first greeting and needs to be corrected to know it’s not okay. With him being like that Chase can only go into a home with no small children. Teenagers in the house would be acceptable. Chase has gotten along with some dogs and others he doesn’t do well with. If he did get adopted into a home with another dog he would do better with a less dominant dog who will willingly give up toys to him while playing fetch.
If you think you can be that right “farm” home for Chase please apply. (No farm animals are needed for a farm home ☺ ) Chase is currently being fostered in New Hampshire.
