“Beau” — now “Roux”
After having at least 3 other homes in his short 11-month life, Beau, with the help of his ACDRA foster parents Jack and Heidi Babb, finally found a wonderful forever home in Maine. Beau is now named Roux and lives with his rescued ACD sister Chloe and his Bassett Hound best friend Aggie. He loves doggie daycare, going for walks in the forest and running like a crazy dog in fields. Roux is the red dog in the photographs.
“Sydney” — Canine Good Citizen
Sydney was brought to an urban shelter because he was fearful of strangers. Professional dog trainer and ACDRA foster dad Terence Kirby worked with Syd, who was then adopted by soon-to-be ACDRA foster family Jack and Heidi Babb to help out on their sheep farm. It wasn’t long before Syd received a Canine Good Citizen award, putting it to good use with some of his foster siblings.
“Roo” — the “Foster Failure”
Roo was a classic “foster failure” — a foster dog adopted by foster mom and ACDRA President Melinda Wood. You can readily see why Roo would never want to leave her foster home!
“Gracia” — now “Racie”
Gracia was dumped at a Virginia shelter by her owner while she was in labor. She and her brand-new puppies were transported to her foster family in Massachusetts only days later. Renamed “Racie” by her new owners, she lives on a 300-acre hobby farm in the Catskills in New York State. Racie’s puppy Reuben, featured at the top of this page, lives near the coast of Maine with his new family.
“Maxton” — the King of all Furniture
Maxton was brought to a shelter in Rhode Island due to “landlord issues” involving barking, digging and chewing. He was pulled from the shelter by the State Shelter Rep and transported to foster family Jack and Heidi Babb, who own Dragonfly Farm in rural New Hampshire. Maxton was adopted by a wonderful couple in Connecticut with previous experience involving an ACD with a similarly “robust personality”.
“Fiefle” — the Cardio Cattledog
Fiefle was pulled from a high-kill shelter in rural Maine by the State Shelter Rep, who then brought him to professional dog trainer and ACDRA foster dad Terence Kirby, who eventually found him a wonderful forever home, where he now goes by the name “SeBu”. Check out this video of SeBu getting some exercise during the cold New England winter.
