Australian Cattle Dog Rescue Association

 The ACDRA is a privately-funded non-profit 501(c)(3) organization.
We are a network of volunteers whose goal is to match displaced ACDs
with suitable homes while also educating the public about these highly
energetic and intelligent dogs. We provide a web presence for the
shelters who have happened upon these unique dogs as well as a
resource for the foster homes who socialize them in a family setting.

About Us

The Australian Cattle Dog Rescue Association was organized in 2002 as a joint venture between two breed clubs. Members of both Bull Run Australian Cattle Dog Club and the North Atlantic Australian Cattle Dog Club had been rescuing cattle dogs for years. It was decided that rescue activities could be more efficient if there was a stand-alone rescue organization not encumbered by breed club activities. We were created to save our beloved cattle dogs from abuse, neglect and abandonment.

Although both clubs jointly founded ACDRA, independence for the new organization was built in to the startup agreement and now ACDRA stands on its own as an independent entity, working on its own merit and its own set of policies and procedures. The goal is to work in a three-way partnership to create a stronger networking community for the salvation of the many needy cattle dogs.

We are a network of volunteers who reside throughout the Mid- and North-Atlantic regions of the U.S. Our volunteers help with temperment evaluations, transportation, fostering, fundraising and public awareness.

In August 2007 we were designated a non-profit 501 (c)(3) organization by the Internal Revenue Service.

Please note: Rescue assistance from the ACDRA is restricted to the Mid-and North-Atlantic regions of the US, which includes the states between Maine and North Carolina.
